Delhi Police arrests JNU student for sexually harassing fellow student

A student at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was arrested on Wednesday after being charged with sexual assault. Initial information suggests that the alleged incident took place in the varsity premises on the afternoon of 5 February.

According to sources, the accused student forced himself into one of the hostel buildings on the JNU campus. Then he sexually harassed another student A call was made to the PCR by university staff and a team of Delhi Police personnel arrived at the scene and took the accused to custody. He was identified as  Raghvendra Mishra.

The police have filed a case against the accused under Sections 354 and 323 of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) which corresponds to charges of assault or criminal force against a woman with intention to offend her modesty and to punish her for intentionally causing harm.

The Delhi Police are still waiting in this case and more details are likely to emerge in this case as the police continue to investigate the incident.
