Coronavirus in India

India confirmed its first case of Novel Coronavirus in Kerala on Thursday. The patient, a student at Wuhan University, is stable and isolated in a hospital, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The virus has killed more than 170 people in China and spreads to other nations, worrying health experts.

"One positive case of Novel Coronavirus — a student studying at Wuhan University — has been confirmed from Kerala," the Ministry of Health said.

The patient is placed in isolation at the hospital. "The patient is stable and closely monitored," the Ministry's statement said.

A Kerala report said Health Minister K.K. Shailaja called for an emergency meeting of top health officials.

New Delhi has requested permission from Beijing to operate two flights to bring the Indians back from Hubei Province.
