Congress candidate wins Kamaraj Nagar assembly seat in Puducherry. He defeated his nearest rival from NR Congress by over 7000 votes.
About 69.44 percent of the total 35,009 voters in the Kamaraj Nagar constituency had exercised their franchise in the bypoll to decide the electoral fate of nine candidates. The main contestants in the fray for Kamaraj Nagar were A John Kumar of the Congress and Bhuvaneswaran of the N R Congress.
The seat fell vacant as the sitting member V Vaithilingam of the Congress had resigned and successfully contested the last Lok Sabha election from here.
