CM inaugurates petrol pumps to be operated by prisoners

In a move aimed at reforming the prisoners, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday inaugurated five petrol pumps to be managed and operated by the prisoners.  Palaniswami inaugurated the the petrol bunks in Chennai, Pudukkottai, Coimbatore, Vellore and Palyamkottai and prison campuses through video-conferencing from the State Secretariat.  Another six petrolm pumps were expected to be opened soon.

''Approval has been accorded to operate 11 retail outlets at Puzhal, Vellore, Pudukottai, Coimbatore and Palayamkottai in the first phase. In the second phase fuel outlets established at Puzhal on Ambattur Road, Salem, Trichy (Airport Road), Trichy (Gandhi Market), Madurai, Coimbatore (Bharathiar Road) would be constructed and operated'', official sources said.
