Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said that 85 percent seats in government medical colleges are allotted to students from the State.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for an arts and science college in Namakkal, Palaniswami said that students from the State also make it to the 15 percent allotted for the all India quota.
Palaniswami thanked the Central government for granting permission to establish 11 new medical colleges in the State.
He added that the State that excels in education will prosper in all aspects. Palaniswami said only education will lead to peace and prosperity.
'When this happens, economy will automatically improve. This government will continuously work to improve the skills of the students,' he added. He further said even if parents are not able provide the necessary study equipment, the government has been catering to the needs of the students.
'The government has given laptops, bicycles, books, bags and many other equipment for the benefit of the students,' he said. The CM also laid foundation stone for a medical college in Namakkal today.
