Chidambaram says I-T raid planned at his home, welcomes it

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has said that the Income-Tax department has plans to raid his residence in Sivaganga constituency and in Chennai to disturb the election campaign and that he would welcome it.

"I have been told that the IT department has plans to raid my residence in Sivaganga constituency and in Chennai. We will welcome the search party!" he said. He added: "The IT department knows that we have nothing to hide. They and other agencies have searched our residences before and found nothing."

Chidambaram further said: "the people are watching the excesses of this government and will deliver a fitting lesson in the elections". He also wanted to know as to how many crores of rupees were being spent on each rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the source of the money.
