Chennai Metro Rail to celebrate Pongal with cultural events

As part of celebrating Tamil Culture and various Art forms of South India, Chennai Metro Rail Ltd in collaboration with South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur is conducting “CMRL Metro Pongal Cultural Festival” at Saidapet, Egmore and Thirumangalam Metro Stations.

The colourful events, a press release said, will take place from 10 to 12 January from 5.30 pm to 9 pm.

"As part of celebrating our heritage, on 10-01-2019 (Thursday) at Saidapet Metro Station celebrity artists namely,

a) Thiru. Andaasi Narayana crew from Telangana will be performing Tribal Dappu Dance at 5.30 pm
b) Thiruvarur Kalaisudarmani Thiru.K.Jagannathan crew will be performing Rural Folk Dance at 6.30 pm
c) Thanjai Kalaisudarmani Thiru.T.G.Raju crew will be performing Tappattam at 7.30 pm."

The release added:

On 11.01.2019 (Friday) at Egmore Metro Station-
a) Thiru.Andaasi Narayana crew from Telangana will be performing Tribal Dappu Dance at 5.30 pm
b) Thiruvarur Kalaisudarmani Thiru.K.Jagannathan crew will be performing Rural Folk Dance at 6.30 pm
c) Thanjai Kalaisudarmani Thiru.T.G.Raju crew will be performing Street Theatre at 7.30 pm.

On 12.01.2019 (Saturday) at Thirumangalam Metro Station

a) Thiru.Andaasi Narayana crew from Telangana will be performing Tribal Dappu Dance at 5.30 pm
b) Dronacharya, Natiyakala Choodamani Smt.Vijayam Karthik crew will be performing Bharatanatyam at 6.30 pm
c) Thiruvarur Kalaisudarmani Thiru.K.Jagannathan crew will be performing Rural Folk Dance at 7.30 pm.
