Bomb threat to CM Palaniswami's house

A bomb threat was reported at the home of Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami during the wee hours of today, which has turned out to be a hoax. As soon as the control room received the call, the police were immediately alerted and special teams and sniffer dogs made a thorough search of the Greenways Road residence of the Chief Minister. But it turned out to be a hoax.

The control room traced the call and found it was made from Pallikaranai. Police then identified the caller as Sundararaj (28). He was taken into custody at 7 am. Police were conducting inquiries with him. Only recently, similar threats were issued to the houses of Palaniswami, superstar Rajinikanth and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, it may be recalled. A caller from Coimbatore gave false alerts that bombs would explode at the residences of Jayalalithaa and  Rajinikanth’s house located in Poes Garden.

He passed on the information to the City Police Control Room and said that the that bombs would go off at the two houses in a couple of minutes. Recently, the same person had called the office of the Puducherry Chief Minister as well warning of bombs, reports stated. In 2013, he was arrested on charges of making a hoax bomb threat to Jayalalithaa.
