Bathing in sea was restricted, which prevented from loss of life - A K Viswanathan

As a part of 'Kanum Pongal' festival, Yesterday the third day of Pongal was celebrated where most of the tourist destinations in Tamil Nadu were piled up thousands of tourists.

Especially in Chennai, the crowds began to rise in the Marina beach yesterday afternoon. Particularly, most of people gather in large numbers in the evening and enjoyed.

Thousands of police were deployed at the Marina beach in connection with Pongal. In addition, security towers were built around the coast for monitoring purpose.

Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan met reporters at the Marina beach in Chennai. Speaking at the event, he said more than 30 missing children have been rescued and restored to their parents.

He also said that bathing in the sea has been prevented from drowning.
