An army rifleman shot a havildar to death and later killed himself using the same rifle at the Army camp at suburban Pallavaram. Police sources said the havildar was identified as Praveen Kumar Joshi, a native of Uttarkhand, and the rifleman was identified as Jamsheer. The sources said there were frequent quarrels between the two over Jamsheer coming late for duty. A similar argument broke out last night and Praveen Kumar reprimanded Jamsheer for coming to duty late despite several warnings. After the wordy duel, Praveen Kumar retired to his room for the day.
When he was in deep slumber, Jamsheer entered into his room in the wee hours of today and shot him with a rifle.Jamsheer ended his life by shooting himself with the same rifle.
