AR Murugadoss’ inspired character of Late Kalpana Chawla, mistakes of Boddhi Dharman and Sari as remuneration for Ramana

Undoubtedly, AR Murugadoss has become one of the country’s most celebrated filmmakers. From being acclaimed as the most promising directors down the south to becoming the favourite of Bollywood superstars, the filmmaker is now working with Superstar Rajinikanth in Darbar. As the director celebrates his birthday today, we bring you some of the best moment in his career and his confessions as well.

Inspiration of Late Astronaut Kalpana Chawla

The director had openly admitted that he named Asin’s character in Ghajini as ‘Kalpana’ as an inspiration from Late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who breathed her last miserably during the return mission from space.

Open confession of ‘7aam Arivu’

The director accepted that his over-confidence was the reason behind 7aam Arivu not getting up to the expected reach. He mentioned that Editor Anthony insisted him to open the ‘Boddhi Dharman’ flashback during the post-intermission portion, but in contrast, the director placed it by the opening episode itself.

Getting a gift of sari as remuneration for Ramana

It seems that the director didn’t get paid remuneration for his second outing ‘Ramana’. The producer’s money could be used only as a sari for his mother. Later, Vijayakanth came forward paying from his own pocket as a gesture of gratitude for delivering a blockbuster movie for him.

Ajith Kumar’s suggestion and how it became a trending fashion

During the shooting of Dheena, Ajith Kumar made a small request to AR Murugadoss if he can wear a special chain saying that it will became a fashion. It was actually done for the sake of his fans and yes, the idea was perfect and it clicked well by becoming a fashion indeed.
