Anti-CAA resolution passed by the Puducherry Assembly

The Legislative Assembly of Puducherry passed a resolution on Wednesday against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA),National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR).The resolution was passed by chief minister V Narayanasamy as soon as the assembly met at 9.30am.

With this, following West Bengal, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry became sixth assembly to adopt anti-CAA resolution.

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy stated that "Resolution urging the Centre to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act has been passed in Puducherry Legislative Assembly". 

He also added that " The resolution was passed as AIADMK MLAs and All India NR Congress boycotted the House's proceedings and failed to come to the assembly".
