Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's co-ordinator O.Panneerselvam has said the party's alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be announced soon.
When reporters asked whether an alliance between his party and the BJP was being firmed up, he said, "a good, cordial decision will be taken in a day or two. He said the AIADMK was continuing talks with national and state parties on stitching an alliance for the Parliamentary polls. When asked if the AIADMK will seek support from superstar Rajinikanth, Panneerselvam evaded a direct reply and said "the election victory will prove that people are with the AIADMK."
On Thursday night, Union Minister Piyush Goyal was in Chennai and met AIADMK senior leaders over alliance. Speaking to reporters, he said, "All possibilities are under consideration and discussions. At the right time, we will give you the good news."
Meanwhile, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad and the BJP's state unit chief Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed confidence of stitching a powerful combine in the state. Prasad said "it is going to be a powerful alliance of NDA in Tamil Nadu." Stating that BJP would be finalising its "strategic partner," very soon, he added that "it is a very strong, effective, and resurgent NDA which will take on the Congress and DMK."
