The AIADMK on Sunday introduced two crucial changes in the party by-laws to ensure that no new party entrants get a chance to contest in intra party posts, including that of the convenor and co-convenor.
The General Council and Executive Council meeting of the AIADMK was held after two years in a private marriage hall in Vanagaram. In the meeting, 23 resolutions were passed alongside a few crucial changes in the by-laws.
According to the new changes, “To contest for the post of convenor and co-convenor, the person should have been an AIADMK member for five years consecutively.” The change in by-laws was introduced by School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan and it was passed unanimously.
The change has further strengthened the posts of party Convenor O Panneerselvam and Co-convenor Edappadi K Palaniswami as the changes were introduced mainly to ensure that even if VK Sasikala, confidante of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, returns to party she would not hold the top party post.
