Amid a brisk turn out in the second phase of rural local body elections in Tamilnadu that saw an estimated 77.73 per cent of the total 1.28 voters cast their ballots. The polling, held in 27 districts, barring the nine newly carved ones, percentage was higher as against 76.19 pc reported during the first phase on Friday.
In the second phase, polling was held in 158 panchayat unions to elect 255, ward members of district panchayats, 2,544 members of panchayat unions and 38,916 panchayat members. Along with the second phase, repoll was also held in some booths.
