3.81 crore passengers travelled in Chennai Metro Rail in 4 years

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) commenced its Metro Train operations from 29th June 2015 and has become the lifelinefor the people of Chennai. Come rain or shine, CMRL has always endeavored to provide the people of Chennai a safe, efficient and a reliable travel partner for its loyal commuters. As part of providing world class infrastructure facilities to the people of Chennai, CMRL has come up with several efficient and sustainable initiatives to increase the patronage such as citing availability of parking space at Metro Stations and launching many last mile connectivitymeasures like Share Auto, Share Taxi services which are presently available at few metro stations will soon have at all 32 Metro stations.

An incremental increase in the ridership was witnessed by CMRL since the commencement of Metro Train operations, said a press release. It added that so far a total of 3, 81, 03, 988 passengers have travelled in Chennai Metro Between 29th June2015 and 14th May 2019. The ridership has touched to a mark of 1, 02,790 passengers on 26th April 2019. And a total of 92,917 passengers have travelled on 6th May 2019 and 95,119 passengers have travelled on 10th May 2019.

It further said: "CMRL wishes to thank all its passengers overwhelmingly welcoming and adopting Chennai Metro as a lifeline in public transport and also for cooperating in maintaining the Metro trains and stations clean and would expect the same continued support in future.
