Producer KT Kunjumon shot to fame for grandeur elements in his movies and one such illustration is Kadhalan starring Prabhu Deva and Nagma in lead roles. The film is celebrating its 25th anniversary today and we bring you some of the interesting facts about the film.

1. Initially, Shankar narrated him a routine love story of a middle class boy falling in love with a girl from rich affluent family. Feeling that the story is stereotypical, the producer asked Shankar to add as much grandeur as possible. 

2. AR Rahman’s songs already became massive hit across the country and the team wanted to make sure that they are shot with excellence. The fancy transparent bus was utilized for the particular song. To a shock, the same bus was modified and got blasted for an action sequence in the same film.

3. Everyone were against casting Prabhu Deva as he had never been a part of any movies as hero. To the maximum, he appeared for 4-5 minutes of song sequences in ‘Sooriyan’ and ‘Gentleman’. However, KT Kunjumon had his complete faith on the actor and signed him onboard. 

4. The producer had been regularly distributing Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit’s movies in Kerala and approached her to play the female lead. However, she couldn’t take up the offer due to clash in dates. Apparently, actress Nagma was roped in for the role. 

5. The mini-level graphic works in the songs still happen to be a massive grandeur. This was one of the reasons why the film clicked in spite of having a new hero and heroine in the lead. Especially, the graphic works in Mukkala Muqabula turned to be an overnight success.
