2 Customs officers have been arrested for smuggling gold

Radhakrishnan was a Superintendent of Customs in Kochi, Kerala and Rahul was the Customs Inspector. It was reported that the two were involved in the smuggling of gold.

In particular, Radhakrishnan attempted to smuggle 25 kg of gold worth Rs 8 crore on May 13 last year through the Thiruvananthapuram airport. On August 19 last year, Rahul was involved in an attempt to smuggle 11 kg of gold worth Rs 4 crore through the Thiruvananthapuram airport.

Initial inquiries revealed that these complaints were genuine. Scheming. Kochi Customs Commissioner Sumith Kumar has taken action to sack the two.

Radhakrishnan was arrested by the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau under the Union Finance Ministry issued detention order under COFEPOSA. He is being held in the Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail. But, Rahul has absconded.
