The Union cabinet approving a ten per cent reservation in jobs and higher education for economically backward sections in the general category has received both bouquets and brickbats. While leader of the Opposition and DMK president M K Stalin opposed it vehemently, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has welcomed it.
Speaking at the Assembly today, Stalin, said, 'The reservation for in jobs and higher education for economically backward sections in the general category is aimed at vote bank with elections round the corner'. BSP chief Mayawati was highly appreciative of the order,m while Samuthuva Makkal Katchi chief Sarathkumar also welcomed the move.
