HC rules Nadigar Sangam polls null and void

The Madras High Court today declaredas null and void, the recent elections held to elect new office-bearers of the South Indian Film Artistes Association,also called as Nadigar Sangam. The court ordered holding of fresh elections within three months and appointed retired Judge B Gokul Dass as election officer. 

Passing orders on a batch of petitions, Justice K Kalyanasundaram also dismissed the pleas moved by the current office-bearers led by actors Vishal, Karthi and Nasser, challenging the appointment of a Special Officer to administer the day-to-day affairs of the association. 

The judge held that the state-appointed special officer would manage the affairs of the association till the new office-bearer stake change.
